The 6 Things to Do to Get Rid of Depression Naturally

You don't have to suffer from depression anymore...

Depression can literally, be considered a plague. It affects an unbelievable amount of people, hurting their families, friends and work. Depression is an illness that plagues over 5% (15 million) of the US residents. It is estimated that at the current rate, it may be the second leading illness by the year 2020, second only to heart disease. The current medical and scientific community pushes pills and therapy as the cure to this illness but many times they don't work and even if they do they are accompanied by more side effects then benefits, but is there another way? Perhaps a better way? The fact is that there are 7 things that must be done to get rid of depression, once and for all.

Fill your life with passionate purpose
First, above all else, and in fact probably the only thing truly necessary to obliterate depression is to find a purpose that you are passionate about. This purpose is not your job or even your business, not your kids, not even your spouse. This purpose is something that you can do that 1) you will absolutely love doing 2) will help other people. You may not know it now but something that may seem like a boring thing to do may end up being your passion once you try it. I will give some examples, however this is only a drop in the bucket as to the possibilities of what this thing could be. Participating in a program like "meals on wheels" is an excellent place to begin your search for your passion. You are required to take food from a cafeteria someplace and bring it to an elderly or sick person who is unable to cook for themselves. You will spend time with that person, perhaps have a conversation about what is bothering you or them today. That is it. Perhaps you can start with once or twice a month and increase the frequency as you notice that you get excited start to look forward to your next food run, however if you notice that you do not enjoy this after doing it a couple times, then it is time to keep looking. You can try a homeless shelter and help them, spend some time helping out at a local prison, or you can go help at a Boys and Girls club. Perhaps you are really good at legal advice, you can offer those services to those who cannot afford a lawyer. HOWEVER, there is a caveat, these cannot be people who you personally know or people who could somehow benefit you. Perhaps you are good at construction, or at least think you can be good at it, you can go to those places that need obvious repairs and let these people know that you can fix it for them free of charge. These are just a very few of the possibilities, but you MUST have a driving purpose that you are passionate about to get rid of depression. Yes, it will take more of your time, probably create a bit more stress, you may have to sacrifice more sleep, play time, etc to do this, however it is an ABSOLUTE must to get rid of depression.

Empty your life of chemicals
This second step is getting rid of your conventional depression medicine and therapies. They are likely not providing any benefit anyways except making you more depressed, you just may not realize it while you are on these drugs. Prozac, for example, in the BEST studies only has a 50% success rate. Yes, you read that right, a drug that is approved by the FDA is only successful in 50% of its patients, yet is one of the most prescribed anti-depressant drugs. Talking out your problem with a therapist is also not very effective as a therapist is extremely rarely interested in what it is that you have to say. They may actually cause you to feel more depressed as you see your bank account funds quickly disappearing. They get paid to listen to you and give you certain advice but that is not what a depressed person needs. A depressed person needs someone who will be GENUINELY interested in what it is that they have to say. That is why a program like "meals on wheels" can be so beneficial. If you need a supplement from time to time use natural alternatives like St. John's wort or a natural HGH supplement like GenF20. This also includes avoiding illegal drugs and even legal stuff like alcohol and cigarettes.

Multiply oxygen
BEFORE YOU TRY TO SKIP THIS SECTION, it is important to know that you do not need to set aside two hours per day going to the gym, hiring a trainer, etc. So the third step is to get into a regular workout routine. Physical exercise has become much too commercialized. Simple things like doing sit-ups or crunches and push-ups to start. If all you do is 200 sit-ups or crunches and 60 push-ups per day (you can split them up into 50 crunches and 15 push-ups 4x per day) then you just spent less than 10 minutes doing exercises that are as effective as spending 30 minutes in the gym. Adding 20 minutes of jogging to your day is very highly recommended as well. Another way to do this and keep it fun is, if you can afford it, get a Nintendo Wii and some of the sport or aerobics games that they have. We really like EA Sports Active 2. You may not realize that you are working out because it is so much fun (except in hard mode, where it is very obvious that you are working out because you are breathing so hard.) In any case you will be reminded that you worked when you wake up with sore muscles the next morning. Just be sure to not let that soreness stop you, it only gets better from here.

Divide the good from the bad nutrients
Fourth is to eat smart. This is not a lens on losing weight so I will not say that you should avoid certain foods, but just make sure that on a daily basis you include fish or poultry in your diet. One day you can make a tuna fish sandwich, the next day some fried chicken. You can do turkey sandwich for lunch then follow that with a salmon fillet dinner. Also be sure to include as much fruit as you can fit into your day. Just add an apple or orange with each of your meals, maybe sometimes you can snack on some strawberries, blueberries or raspberries. Doing this will not necessarily apply to depression alone, but to your body as a whole.

Have sex as frequently as possible
Fifth is to make sex a part of your every day. I can understand that, for some, regular sex is not a realistic option. However, increasing the frequency of sex is very important. Sex releases endorphins and balances hormones which are very likely candidates for depression set in. Daily sex is highly recommended, more often is even better. An important consideration is that sex should be with someone that you care about and who also cares about you. One night stands and other promiscuous behavior are actually some of the causes of depression and should be avoided. If you need some help with keeping sex exciting or reviving the excitement in your relationship give 52 Romantic Evenings a try.

Factor in alternatives
Sixth is to try a few alternative treatment remedies such as acupuncture, aromatherapy, biofeedback, chiropractic services, and massage. These are the more popular options that some have claimed provided relief for their depression. The reality is that these are typically temporary relief options for depression and many of these require a financial outlay therefore they are not suited for everyone.

If you are getting frustrated with the progress of your depression healing then it is very simple to switch to an alternative form of depression treatment or at least start with adding a purpose to your life. One thing to always keep in mind pharmaceutical companies that make drugs such as Prozac and Zoloft are not interested in curing your illness. That's right, they don't want to cure the illness, they want you to take their drugs for the rest of your life.
